A Little Bit of Everything in Los Angeles
by Justice Sybil
It is unfortunate that these days we don't seem to have enough time for a decent vacation. In fact, some of us are guilty of squeezing in a couple of days off when our company sends us out of town. So just in case this happens to you and the destination is Los Angeles, we have listed eight places you should visit for a mini vacation.
Our first destination is a Los Angeles requirement, the Hollywood sign! This iconic structure whose letters are 50 foot tall was erected in 1923 to encourage not the movie industry but real estate business. Although it is off limits in that you can't touch or stand close to it. You can park at Hollyridge Drive and hike 50 yards up Hollyridge till you come across a wide trail on your left. Hike right by the letters and even see great views of downtown Los Angeles and the Griffith Park observatory. Another must see is the Venice Boardwalk, there is no other place like this on the planet. It is a combination beach, carnival, artist exhibit and weight training show all in one, the striking sunset is a plus. It's just the place to taste the bohemian lifestyle while cycling or in-line skating.
Even the most jaded individual can't help but have fun at the Disneyland resort. And the "Happiest place on Earth" has expanded to include the Disney California Adventure. This new theme park features parades, rides and shows that celebrates not only California's past but also the newest Disney movies like Monster's incorporated, Aladdin and Finding Nemo.
For a shopaholic's happiest place on Earth, the area between Wilshire and Santa Monica Boulevards or Rodeo Drive is the destination to beat. World famous shops like Yves Saint Laurent, Versace and Armani to name a few grace its cobblestone path. Don't let the high end names make you uneasy there are also more reasonably priced shops and restaurants in the area. Avoid going on a Sunday though as most shops are closed.
For our Movie buffs, Grauman's Chinese Theatre which opened its doors in 1927 has and still is a monument to Hollywood history. It is still a sought-after location for studio premiers unfortunately you'll have to buy a movie ticket in order to view the interior's authentic Chinese artifacts and carvings. The famed cement handprints and footprints of movie stars in the forecourt however are accessible to all and captured the imagination of 4 million visitors last year. In line with our movie theme, the home of the Academy Awards just can't be missed. The Kodak Center's guided tour includes ample behind the scene tidbits from Oscar ceremonies past courtesy of the tour guides plus entrance to the VIP George Eastman Lounge that your favorite actors mingle in during the awards ceremony.

Los Angeles vacations are fun for the whole family. When looking at vacation packages and travel deals to Los Angeles make sure to bundle and save your vacations. Buying the car, flight, hotel, and activities all at once will increase the savings on your trip.
Looking for another destination? I would suggest also looking at Las Vegas vacations for some fun in party city.
