Body Color In A Diamond by Derek Dashwood
Color is one of the most important differences in determining one grade of gem from another. In white diamonds color between one grade to another can be difficult to see when a diamond is mounted. Remember it is not possible to accurately determine grade color in mounted diamond. If you practice, you will be able to tell the differences between various grades of white diamonds, with practice. Body color of the diamond is one of the more vital factors to consider when looking at a diamond to purchase.
This is an investment you must love, feel secure that it is a sound iinvestment that will olnly make money for you, and must be the most beautiful object you can afford today. One of the first thing people notice hen they look into a diamond is whether the diamond is clear, open, white, colorless. You must be able to look inside a diamond as you can no other gemstone in existence. The clearer the diamond is to allow you to look inside the higher the value. The finest and most expensive diamonds ae white or utterly colorless.
The brilliance of the diamond can be best seen by looking sidways at this. Ironically this gives a better view point that by looking down into the diamond. Better is to roll it beside a bent business card, at which viewpoint the entire diamond will open up to you. You are looking at a wide variety of excellence and you can see which diamond wave holds sway in which area. Diamonds had been graded and those which are most exceptional had for gradging purposes D,E,F, all in the top Colorless Category.
The general phrase for this top price and quality value diamonds is that loose diamonds appear colorless.The next category, which is termed Near Colorless, has the next best grades G,H,I,J. The warning for this catagory is that when mounted in a setting these diamonds mayh appear colorless to the untrained eye. The next category down in Faint Yellowish Tint. That warning on purchase of these gems Smaller diamonds look colorless when mounted. Diamonds of 1/2 carat of more show traces of color.
The two lowest categories in the Diamonds and Gemstones categories are now Very Light Yellowish Tint, which has categories N,O,P,Q,R. The lowest category is termed Tinted Light Yellowish and ithas grades S,T,U,V,W,X,Y,Z. Both of these lowest categories have the phrase these diamonds show increasingly yellow tints to even the untrained eye, and appear very off-white. The colors C,D,and F are grouped as exceptionally fine and rare.
They are referred to as colorless, execptional white, or rare white. That is how they are often between diamond dealers. The colors G and H may be referred to as fine white or rare white. These are still considered very fine grades. The I and J colors are slightly more tinted than G and H, and sell for less, and are near colorless. The colors K and L show a stronger essence of yellowish and browish. Grades D through K seem to have better resale potential than grades K through Z.
Diamond dealers will remind you that having the lesser graded diamond you can find in your diamond a warmth not showsn by other diamonds and that you have a very beautiful ring with its own very special characteristics and way of showing itself to you.
