If It's Too Cheap, It Probably Isn't Real-Know How To Spot A Fake Watch by Gregg Hall

If you are in the market for a real luxury watch you should plan on spending quite a bit of money. If you think you found a great deal on a luxury watch, make sure it is a real one and not a fake or knock off. Don't get caught up in the great deal you think your getting and forget about quality.

If all your after is a knock off so you can sport the name, it will not be hard for you to find one. There are many Internet sites and auction sites that claim they are selling the real luxury watches, but are not. First clue will be the price. Anything under $250 is probably a knock off.

Just because you find a watch on a website does not mean it is a real luxury watch. Some knock off watches have some pretty official looking web sites. Make sure you buy your watch from a well known dealer to insure that you are not getting ripped off. If the only place you see a particular watch for sale is on the Internet this may be another sign that it is a knock off.

Luxury brands of watches are not sold at more than a 50% discount no matter what. Even the most aggressive dealer will not give you this big of a discount off the retail price. If the dealer is going to give you this good of a discount its probably a fake. Luxury brands are also not sold at clearance or end of the season sales. There is no need for the retailer to sell their valuable jewelry at such high discounts.

If you think you have found a real luxury watch, be sure to do your research. You can do this research right from home on the Internet. Do a search on the brand of watch you would like to purchase. If your watch is not a fake dealers will discuss its quality. Collectors and owners will also be discussing the assets of the watch. If you cant find anything like this when you do a search beware that it may be a knock off. A couple brands that tend to be imposters are Klaus Kobec, Krug Baumen, and Montre Suisse.

Just remember that any deal that looks too good to be true usually is. Luxury watches are not going to be sold at 70 to 95% off. These low prices are made to draw your attention away from the quality and onto the fact that you will be saving a ton of money. Make sure you pay attention to quality so you don't get ripped off. Even if you save hundreds, you could save a lot more if you would have just went to the local store and skipped the middle man. When investing this much money into a watch, make sure you also invest the time to make sure it is a worth while investment.
